We rarely eat at hotel restaurants because often they just aren't very good. Thankfully, that was not the case with Tidepools. We had a multi-night stay at the Grand Hyatt and decided to give it a try one night. Lovely atmosphere overlooking the water feature at the resort. We tried the roasted vegetable Medallion for a starter and while nicely flavored, it was not quite what we thought it would be. Sadly, I forgot to snap a pic of it. Our entrees were the Grilled Ahi and the Hawaiian Catch. Hubby said his ahi was one of the best he's had anywhere and he's eaten a lot of ahi over the years. The lobster in my Hawaiian catch was a little overdone though tasty. I also would have liked another shrimp or two as those were cooked perfectly. Note that if you want to eat here, make your reservation 4-6 weeks in advance for the best chance of securing a reservation at your desired time. At 4 weeks out, our choices were 5:30 (or earlier) and 8:30.

Our family dinner at Tidepools was a wonderful experience, and a great way to celebrate our youngest's birthday. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the views are beautiful, and the food was absolutely incredible! It's a bit pricey, but the high quality and being on-property at the Grand Hyatt Kauai made it worth it.

What an amazing adventure for dinner! Situated near the tide pools and swimming areas the restaurant sits in the middle of a large koi fish pond. Plan to reserve for early to get the best seats on the edge of the pond. Also come early and spend time walking around the grounds of the Hyatt! Lots of paths and well kept gardens. And of course the shopping areas inside the massive lobbies is worth a visit. So we were the first to be seated when they opened and got a great table. We started off with scallop appetizers which just melted in our mouths. Dinner was the best prepared seared ahi I've enjoyed anywhere. Our waiter Ron was excellent; friendly and comfortably attentive without being intrusive. Clearly very experienced as he c presented information without sounding like he'd memorized it. Made for a very enjoyable dining experience. So while we can't afford the hotel ($1200 a night ) we will go back next trip to Kauai.

The grounds are truly beautiful. The restaurant is located within the Hyatt so you enter through the lobby and have maybe a 5 minute walk to the restaurant itself. I was able to snag a reservation a month in advance because I heard this place books up pretty quick! The food was amazing, I'm sad I don't have any photos to share but I was pleasantly surprised with the portions due to this being a fine dining restaurant. The server handled our party of 6 without any issues and I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are visiting the island!

bomb breakfast buffet By far our favorite dining experience in the hotel. the breakfast buffet here is phenomenal. priced at $52, it was included with out hotel package. they have freshly made omelets, tons of fresh pastries, veggies, and fruits. their premade hot food was def a highlight - perfectly cooked eggs Benedict, bacon, sausages, pancakes, and french toast. They also have a rotating asian menu such as various dim sum and fried rice. I would skip the chow fun tho - def underseasoned. Eating a delicious breakfast on the water with the koi fish - the perfect way to start the day.

We made reservations two nights in a row and loved our food so much that some of us couldn't switch it up the next night! Delicious steak, fabulous seafood, excellent wine!
